What is a word you feel that too many people use?
I find the modern use of woke to be confusing and annoying.
Historically woke just meant to wake up e.g. I woke up.
In this sense I can see how the African American usage came into play. ‘Stay woke’ meaning to be aware of racial prejudice, makes sense, but the modern use just seems to be ‘I don’t understand your life choices you’re too woke’ or ‘your liberalism is too much for me you’re woke’. Even ‘that show is too woke’ used to mean a show that’s being ‘too’ inclusive. It’s become a negative and it’s use is all too common.
It annoys me that something that should be positive has been distorted in this way, just to play political games and undermine its true purpose.
